I've been perusing the granddaddy of all homeschooling catalogs in search of something for the subject of science. Tabitha certainly gets loads of science just living life and being involved in all her various classes, but I still thought I'd look for something kind of fun as it's a subject she really enjoys. I've narrowed it down to maybe 5 choices, so now I just need to research them a bit more. I also found a unit study that basically teaches your child how to be a homemaker, lol. I guess I should say teaches your "daughter" as it's not for all children. Though I am a housewife/homemaker/sahm/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, I kind of take issue with raising my daughter with the expectation of her choosing this lifestyle. On the other hand, the mini-curriculum helps instill independance and pride in the home, which is not a bad thing at all. Plus, it's done it story form. Meaning it tells a story of a girl and her daily life and then the child does what she did during the day, which I think would really appeal to Tabitha's "identifying with characters in books" side. It isn't expensive, so I'm considering ordering the K-level book and see what it's like and if it's something that I could tailor to work for us. Worst case scenario, I resell it.

I looked over 1st grade Sonlight Science at a meeting, and it was awesome! Not religious at all, what is there can easily be ignored. My friend using it is atheist. LOL It uses some really great and fun Usborne science books. Not sure what you are looking for, but it was kinda cool and Im thinking of getting it later on in the fall or next spring or whenever. LOL
