02/24/2004 Archived Entry: "what's cookin?"

The munchkin is down for the count. I knew something was up when she fell asleep on the couch at 4:30 this afternoon. I woke her up around 5 and she insisted she wanted to go to drawing class. But after class she kept telling me she was cold and sure enough, she's running a low grade fever. I'd guess it to be just under 100º. I'll keep checking on her and if it seems to go higher, I'll probably give her fever reducer. For now, I'll just let her body do what it's supposed to do. What this means though, is that we might have to miss class tomorrow and that is not going to go over well at all. But if she wakes up with a cold, there's not much else we can do, I'm not going to expose all those children to Tabitha's germs.

Today was a cooking kind of day. I made a wonderful tortellini soup for lunch, which we topped off with garlic bread and salads. After riding lessons, I made a spinach enchilada casserole to drop off at Chris's work for him and everyone working this evening. I just talked to Chris and he said everyone enjoyed it. I'll be immodest and say that I'm not surprised, I've never had someone eat it and not like it because it's just that good of a recipe. I also made cool tahini pasta for dinner for the kid and I. Though it ended up that she wasn't in the mood for it and just had a quesadilla. Marinated mushrooms were also on the menu and I was so disappointed with how they turned out. I couldn't find any fresh oregano and used dried instead and it was just a shoddy substitution. I didn't enjoy them at all and will probably toss the leftovers. Though I'll let Chris decide since the rest are for him. I was supposed to make a pudding pie, but time got away from me. I'll probably whip that up in a minute or two since it won't take long to make. We got a Nilla Wafer crust and I'm anxious to see how that is since I just love Nilla Wafers. So, lots of delicious fun has been had by me today :)
