I'm not 100% sure this is what I'm staying with, but it's better than it looked earlier today. I hope no one had the misfortune to witness my layout gone awry.

Today we had a very warm and cozy house thanks very much to the aromas coming from my crockpot of tomato soup. Tabitha has been requesting it for some time and I finally made it today. We also had salad and some homemade garlic bread. We ended the evening with a quick trip to Baskin Robbins. Tomorrow is free scoop night though, so we were one night early.

Chris's days off are changing back to Wednesday and Thursday. This will make it much easier after our Mommy and Me class. No Tabitha and I don't have to rush home to see Chris before he leaves for work. Also, he probably won't be working any late shifts anymore. Just openings, so that will be an adjustment.

Well, I probably shouldn't tell anyone this, but the episode of Ultimate Collectors that I taped back in January is going to air Saturday, May 3. It's on HGTV (Home and Garden Television) and will air at 6:00pm EST and 3:00pm PST. I'm the 4th segment, so I'll be towards the end of the half hour show. I'm the one with the cows. I have this horrible feeling that I'm really going to come across like and idiot, so please, be kind with your comments. Anyway, for those of you who call me Zandra, the show uses my first name of Tara, but I think you'll know it's me regardless of the name they use. And keep in mind, you have to picture me 14 lbs. slimmer since I've lost that much since January, lol.

Just to let you know, I plan to do a bit of redesign on the site sometime in the next week. So if this page appears a bit wonky at times, you'll know why.

Chris and Tabitha are watching the Dodgers right now. It is way too cute to listen to Tabitha ask all these questions and Chris is answering them as if she can understand every little nuance of the game. Makes me laugh and tear up a bit at the same time.
I love my two sweeties :)

It was bound to happen and it's something I've prepared myself for quite awhile. Tabitha was working at her craft table yesterday and comes up to me, fluffs her hair and says "How do I look?" I just knew, but went ahead and asked if she cut her hair. Needless to say, she had. *sigh Thankfully, if she hadn't told me, it really would have taken awhile before I noticed. It didn't look like much at all, until I looked in her trashcan and saw lots and lots of hair. Then I took a much closer look. It's not bad and no one will know at all. Thank goodness she doesn't have bangs because that's what most kids cut first and then look funny for a month. I know I cut my bangs (and looked funny) when I was around 6 or so. Anyway, her scissors are mine for the time being while she remembers the rules of what we can cut (paper) and what we don't (anything else).
Later in the day she says she wants to tell me something that she did that she didn't want to tell me before. It turns out that in the middle of the night sometime, she got up out of bed and went "exploring" into the living room to see how dark it was. She was telling me how she tip-toed past my door so I wouldn't wake up and see her. How funny is this? It's just a totally bizarre thing to do and I was laughing my bum off, I can tell you that. She was so proud of herself too, because she did it 4 times and didn't even take a flashlight. I used to keep a baby gate in her door at night specifically so she wouldn't roam the house in the middle of the night. Apparently I was a bit premature in taking it down 2 years ago, lol.

Well, we got our new game at the mall today. We bought a new copy because it was only $2.00 more than the used copy. We had taken 2 old games in to trade and got $20 credit for Kingdom Hearts, which was a great game, and $3 credit for Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which really kind of stunk. We were happy with the $3! LOL So, we basically got Dark Cloud for free and have a dollar and change leftover in store credit. We'll most likely be getting Dark Cloud 2 when we're ready for a new game.
We took Tabitha out to practice on her new roller blades. She originally had the 3 stages kind. The ones where the wheels don't move on stage 1, only roll forward on stage 2, and roll both ways on stage 3. The problem is they have big plastic wheels that don't really roll at all. She was never going to learn to skate properly with these, hence why we got her new ones. She really wants to play hockey, but she has to know how to skate first, they don't teach them. I'm realizing how hard it is to explain how to skate though. I think I'm going to look into getting her lessons, but we'll see. I sign her up for enough classes, I don't need to over-schedule the poor kid! Dance classes end next Saturday though, and we're not planning on signing her up again. She and I have been practicing for the recital next weekend. We'll see how it goes!

Our week has been going pretty good. Tuesday, Chris took an extra day off of work and we went to California Adventure for a couple hours. All we did was watch the Playhouse Disney Live! show again, ride the bumper cars and have lunch. We were pleased to a see 2 new characters. Tabitha visited with Stanley and also Ollie from Rolie Polie Ollie. We heard Zoe was there too, but we didn't see her this time. For lunch we actually stayed and ate at one of the restaurants, that's something we never do. We ate at Ariel's Grotto which is a character dining restaurant. It's different than the hotels because it's not buffet. The lunch was decent, mine was a little cold because I was trying to take a long time so we could be sure to see all the characters that were there. We saw Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Ariel, Chip and Dale. No one new, but they were dressed differently. I know, we're Disney geeks, what can I say? They did a conga line twice, which Tabitha enjoyed being in. When they bring your check, they bring a big plate of cotton candy! That was unexpected, we had just let Tabitha have an ice cream sundae, so she got way more sugar than we had anticipated.
After lunch we left and headed to the aquarium for Tabitha's otter class. While she was in class, Chris and I walked over to Shoreline Village and enjoyed looking around the shops and such. We also saw some ads for fun harbor cruises, like a murder mystery cruise! Now we're thinking and hopefully we'll do something soon. It will probably be a day cruise so Tabitha can go too, we know she'd be very excited to go on a boat.
Once we got home and had a quick dinner, Chris and I got back to playing our new rented game. We rented Dark Cloud on Sunday and are thoroughly loving it! There is no way we're going to finish in time, so we're going to Electronics Boutique and trade in 2 of our old games and buy a used copy of Dark Cloud. We figure we'll go there today and walk around the mall a bit. This mall has a nice koi area that Tabitha enjoys walking around in and looking at all the fish and Chris and I can sit with our drinks.
Yesterday was our bi-weekly trip to Whole Foods. We just love their cheese section. We could not resist taking some home. So for dinner last night we had chips and salsa (actually, we're calling it "salt-sa" because I definitely over salted it), blackberries, two kinds of French breads and Holland Edam cheese. We got Tabitha a couple Mini Babybel cheeses just for her and she thought that was pretty cool. Afterwards we, you guessed it, played our game :)
Not sure what's on the agenda today yet.

We had a lovely Easter yesterday. We colored eggs in the morning which Tabitha thought was loads of fun. We did 23 eggs all together. My mom and sister came over after lunch and then all of us took the dog for a walk while the Easter Bunny (aka Chris, secretly arriving home from work) hid all the eggs and the baskets. When we got back from our walk Tabitha saw an egg on the front step and was beside herself with joy. She only wanted the eggs and we had to remind her to look for her baskets. We had to give her two, because we bought 8 jars of playdoh and they wouldn't fit in her regular basket with toys in it. She was happy to find the playdoh and was really surprised that there was stuff in her baskets. She received the playdoh, plus a Little People farm accesory with video, a Kelly doll dressed as an Easter chick, a hippo flashlight (she has a thing for flashlights), a Disneyland pressed penny book, Power Rings connector toys and a small Mega Blocks car set. In the hidden eggs was some candy, some change, and the golden egg had a dollar in it. We also hide a big carrot and it was filled with Nerds this year. We had dinner around 5:00pm. I served deviled eggs (made out of half of the dyed eggs), cabbage salad, spinach artichoke lasagna, roasted asparagus, garlic bread, cookies and brownies. I'm very pleased with how the day went.
Tabitha has a bit of a cold, unfortunately. Today we've been complete bums. She has watched tv since she got up and I've sat here at the computer in between folding loads of laundry. Other than that, I've done nothing. I don't even think I'm going to cook dinner, I'm really leaning towards going out. Maybe just to Dennys, nothing that's a big deal.

We had a good day yesterday. We went to the LA Zoo for their Spring Fling. Tabitha got to plant a carrot to bring home, get her face painted like a bunny, decorate bunny ears and, of course, the obligatory picture with the Easter Bunny. We stayed and toured the zoo for awhile as well. Before we even got in though, we saw this in the parking lot. A great big Crayola Bus. It's on tour for the 100th birthday of Crayola. Tabitha played with markers that write on glass, model magic, markers that are also connecting toys, twist-up eraseable crayons, some gel type pens and other stuff. It was really cool and I'm glad we got a chance to see it.
After the zoo, we headed to a Dodgers game. That didn't go so well overall. Tabitha was really antsy and just kind of annoying. Plus the Dodgers were not doing well at all. Chris and I rarely leave a game early, but we made an exception to our rule last night and headed home. We got Tabitha to bed and then settled down to play our rented game and it turns out, that it's not very good. We had one great game and 2 losers in a row now. I really hope we have better luck with our next game.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow, Tabitha is really excited. We're going to color eggs in the morning while Chris is at work, go for a walk when he's close to home which is, amazingly enough, when the Easter Bunny visits and hides the eggs and her basket. We'll arrive home and Tabitha will have a great time before we sit down to Easter dinner. My mom and sister may or may not come over, I hope they do, I like spending holidays with family. In any case, I know it will be a good day.

I am so tired. Tabitha woke up yelling around 4AM. It didn't take long to calm her down and get her back in bed, but I could not go back to sleep at all. I was awake until about 5:30am. That just totally disrupts my morning because I like to get up around 6:30. Well, I didn't get up and I was very, deeply asleep when Tabitha came at 7:30 and woke me from a dream. So I'm totally groggy and feel pretty yucky right now. Chris was apparently sick last night and he didn't even come to bed until 5am, so of course I'm letting him sleep in. We're going to be a fun lot today aren't we?
Our walk is probably off since there is a chance of showers and I don't think we're having lunch with my mil after all. We had talked about going up to the snow since it rained so heavily on Monday. We'll see, it's not like we all have super warm coats or anything. But Tabitha has been dying to go and it just hasn't snowed this year hardly at all. If we don't go today, we'll have to wait until next winter to try again.

The week is going well so far. Monday, it was pouring down rain, so we had to change our park date to a playdate at my friend's house. Tabitha had a lot of fun playing with her 3 daughters. The oldest is actually 9, but she was home for Spring Break and is very good with little kids. But of the other 2 girls, one is 6 months older than Tabitha and the other is 1 year younger, so they make wonderful playmates. The girls put on a show for us of "Cinderella." My friend also has an 8 month old, so I got to play with a baby for awhile. After our playdate, we went to get Chris and had an early dinner out, then dropped Tabitha off at my in-laws' and Chris and I went to a lecture at the aquarium. It was on "The Nature of Learning" and was primarily about what is called "free-choice learning." It was very informative and very interesting, to say the least. Most of the attendees were part of the aquariums Pacific Circle and there was a reception for them before the lecture. We were there about 15 minutes early and three different people told us to go into the reception. They were probably hoping to recruit more members. But these members are the kind that donate thousands of dollars a year to the aquarium, not exactly something we can do. We were probably the youngest people there, too. But it was nice that they said we could go in. Anyway, we were both so jazzed after the lecture that we're hoping they'll be more interesting talks in the very near future.
Yesterday and today was nothing special. Tomorrow is Chris's day off, of course. I think we're skipping Disney this week and probably just hanging out here tomorrow. Chris has been in a mood to walk lately so we might walk to meet my mil for lunch tomorrow. It's one of my 2 miles one-way uphill walks, but it feels so good to do it. Not sure how it will feel coming home after eating lots of mexican food though, lol.
Well, it's pretty cold here, so I'm off for a nice long soak in a hot bath.

Thursday we took our weekly trip to Disney. It's getting really crowded now, so we had planned to only stay a couple hours. We checked out the new Pooh Corner store and found a couple of cute items to get Tabitha that commemorate the new ride. We also rode the ride again and it is still just as adorable. Afterwards we went over to California Adventure on a whim to see if the new Playhouse Disney Live! show was open early and it was! The show is fabulous! We all sit on the floor with our kids and it's very interactive. The kids are encouraged to get up and dance several times and other little things. It's hosted by a live person but the show centers around Bear in the Big Blue House's Tutter and his shyness. Bear, Ojo, Pip and Pop were all there. Then it moves on to a Rolie Polie Olie scene that was pretty cool and then Stanley. Stanley is not a show that we've ever watched, but I really enjoyed his scene so I think we'll probably record an episode this week to see if we like it. After Stanley it went to The Book of Pooh and it was so well done. They look just like on the show. And then it was back to Bear. They even had Luna and we all sang the good-bye song. My kid was so happy and so excited to be there and it literally brought tears to my eyes to see her so happy. We left after that and didn't do much else Thursday or Friday other than errands here and there.
Saturday was dance in the morning and then I took Tabitha with me to go scrapbooking. She had so much fun. For the first 2 hours she played very nicely by herself with the toys we brought and watched a movie, but then one of my friends showed up with her daughters and the 3 girls just had a blast. They got to go outside and play with the hostess' dog and run around and just generally scream as only girls can when they're having fun. They were also given colored chalk to draw with and Tabitha was just covered in chalk. I had to borrow a shirt from the hostess because I could not take Tabitha in the car like that. Thank goodness today is laundry day! I was able to get a few layouts done, of course none are scanned. We'll see if I get to that today or not. Since it went so well, I'm not going to hesitate to take her again if I can't get a sitter.

I just realized this evening that our homeschool page has been missing since I switched hosts. Not only is it back online, but I updated it, if you're interested. I took down all the pics though since they were horribly outdated.

We had so much fun this morning. We went to Boomers (kind of like Family Fun Centers) with our Mommy and Me class for our Easter party. First the kids made their own pizzas, then they decorated bags and got to hung for Easter eggs. Each child got to find 3 eggs and there were little toys inside each egg. After the egg hunt it was time to eat. Unfortunately, there was a mix up. The pizzas were on a piece of parchment paper and you were supposed to write your name on the paper so the kids would get their own pizza back. Well, the person who put the pizzas in the oven must not have known to keep them in a certain order or something, because Tabitha's pizza came back with pepperoni. Obviously, she didn't put it on there. Also, it stinks for the girl that we gave our pepperoni to because her pizza should have had double pepperoni! We couldn't find who had Tabi's cheese pizza so they just made her another one. So, she didn't get to eat the pizza she made, but she didn't mind too much. It was funny too, because we had just had a conversation with one of the other moms about being vegetarian and we had said how it's really a non-issue and then we had a bit of an issue, lol. After pizza, we went into the game area and played games for tickets. Tabitha played most of the games but Chris and I played a couple as well. All in all, we had 155 tickets which isn't bad for $5.00 worth of tokens. Tabitha then got to choose her prizes and chose a ring, a rubber flip thing, a rubber ball, a notepad, a pencil, sticker earrings, a noise maker thing, a water whistle and a dominoes game. We didn't do miniature golf or go on the little rides, we'll save that for another time.

Oh, the Kid's Club last night was very cute. She made an Easter Bunny birdfeeder. You can see it by
clicking here. We had a lot of fun with that. Afterwards we stopped at Blockbuster and Chris and I rented a new game. We'll play anything now that we're renting and not buying. If we don't like it, we're only out $6.50 as opposed to buying a bad game for $50.00. We rented "Escape From Monkey Island." It's different than we've been playing and more than a little strange but we had fun. Right now Tabi is outside and I'm avoiding mowing the back yard :)

I gave Tabitha a bit of a reading test this morning. She's right where I thought she would be. She scored as an average 7.7 year old. The problem with her reading level, is finding books that are at her level word wise, but written for her age. Books for her level are boring to a 4 year old. So she reads way beneath her level. But at least she enjoys reading and that's what's important. She just loves books and I love that she enjoys them so much and really takes after me :)
Right now Tabitha is playing. She's been getting out a toy, playing a few minutes and then asking if she could leave it out so she could play with it later as well. Now, I usually say yes. But 2 days ago she got out her potato heads and they are in the play room. Yesterday she got out her blocks and built fairy houses in the dining room. She couldn't put those away because then the fairies would have no place to live. And this morning she got out her Peter Pan set and left it in her room. After I kicked a bunch of armless potato heads, I told her to play with everything today because it's all being cleaned up before bed tonight. So her job today is to play, lol.
After dinner tonight we have Kids Club at the mall. I think she paints an Easter bird feeder, but I'm not sure. It will be fun though, it always is.

Another 4 mile walk today. This one was only somewhat uphill instead of completely uphill. I still felt really tired afterwards. I'm not quite in the right shape yet. Mowing the uphill part of the lawn has gotten much easier though so my upper body strength is improving at least. Tabitha and I made a cute basket out of a strawberry basket. She drew bunnies and eggs on paper. I cut out the bunnies, she cut out the eggs. I lined the basket with a doily and attached twisted pipe cleaners for a handle. Then we taped the eggs and bunnies to the basket. Tabitha also made grass out of construction paper and drew and cut out flowers to go in the grass. I think it came out really cute. I'll post a picture tomorrow.
