It's been a good couple of days :) First off, Tabitha's website has been updated if you'd like to visit it. We were finally able to redo her room this week thanks to the generousity of my in-laws. Tabitha has a new bed and lots of other stuff. I'm just thrilled with how her room looks now and she is just beyond excited with her new bed. Room pictures can be found here. Lastly, Chris has been interviewing for a new job and today we found out he got it! We're very excited and I'm so proud of him. He is going to be working for his current employer's competitor, basically. The best part is, it's only 3 miles from our house, as opposed to 30 miles! It will be so easy now if I want the car. He's talking about getting a bike too, but he's going to be working late and I don't want him biking at night. And lastly, tomorrow is my birthday. I'll be 29 in about 45-minutes. Life is good :)

Tonight, Chris and I did some shopping by ourselves after we went out to dinner. We were looking at bedding sets since it looks like we are getting Tabitha's new bed this week. We didn't buy anything as we didn't find anything that we loved but we some some quilts that we'll consider. We also stopped in at Toys 'R Us and decided to get some more figures for Tabitha's Magic Castle. They are kind of hard to find now because Fisher Price discontinued them and now make Rescue Heroes which Tabitha isn't interested in. Anyway, we picked up Cyclops, a wizard and witch set, and a ghost set. We expected the total to be $18.00 pretax. Well, they are marked waaaaay down and our total was only $8.00! What a deal! So then we headed to Wal-Mart and I found a Halloween exclusive Mr. Potato Head and a clearance priced Care Bear toy so we had to get those. We put the Potato Head away since he's Halloween, but gave Tabitha the other toys. She is very excited and right now the Care Bears are alternating being beaten by Cyclops and being welcome guests at the Magic Castle. Rather interesting to hear her play to say the least. Now we just need to get the rest of the Great Adventurers toys before they're all gone. Hopefully we can get to the Mattel outlet store this week and also a couple different Toys 'R Us's. Our whole family is toy obsessed, what can I say?

Finally! A day where we're doing nothing! LOL Thursday the three of us headed out to Disneyland for the day. It was hot, it was crowded, it was just like summer. But we had a really good time. We don't spend our days there waiting in lines to go on rides. We go in a couple shops or meet a few characters (depending on lines). We do go on a few rides, but we choose different ones each time and the length of the line has a lot to do with our choice. Tabitha used to only go on about 5 rides and it was no trouble just doing those, but she's expanded her horizons, so to speak and rides quite a few now so it's pretty rare that we'll go on everything she likes in one day. Anyway, we did this and that and enjoyed ourselves. We hit Taco Bell on the way out and headed to a farmer's market where our friends' band was supposed to play, but apparently that got rescheduled and there was a different band there. We decided to call it a day and went home after a stop at Target.
Yesterday, Tabitha and I took the city shuttle to the mall. We did a bit of shopping for both of us. I got a pair of shorts (still pleased with that size!) and some Clinique face stuff I needed. Tabitha got Peter Pan PJs since she's outgrowing her old ones and also a Polly Pocket set that was marked waaaay down at KB Toys. We also got lunch from our favorite noodle restaurant and she rode the train before we went home. I might actually return the shorts as they were about twice the cost of what I prefer to spend. After Chris got home we all went to IKEA to look into getting Tabitha's new bed. We just don't think we're going to get the one she'd really like. It's like a low loft bed with a slide. Which is cool and all, but it has some things that aren't good. For one thing, I have no idea how I'd be able to make her bed everyday. I know that seems small and silly, but it's something that's important to me. Second of all, the amount of space under the bed is only 27" high. That's barely enough room to play which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a loft bed. We can't get her a traditional loft bed because those are way too high for a 4 year old. So, we're thinking on what to do. I talked with Tabs last night and she told me she'd be happy with any bed we got her. We're just unsure right now what we want to do.
So, this brings us to today. I know I have some house stuff to take care of, Tabitha wants to do some lessons, and we'll be going to the grocery store. It's kind of cool and overcast right now, but it's been in the high 80s so I expect it to burn off.

We've been busy, busy, busy! Saturday, Tabitha and I met friends at an outdoor mall. My friend and I sat and talked while the girls played all over the place, watched koi fish, danced in front of a fountain, visited the pet store, and played puppets in the toy store. They only took a small break for lunch and then they were off again!
Sunday, we went with my mother and sister to my grandparents house. One of my aunts and a few cousins were visiting down here for a couple days. I had a really good time catching up with my cousins whom I rarely get to see.
Monday was a day of nothing.
Tabs and I went to a class at the zoo on Tuesday. It was called "Large and In Charge!" and was about all the large land mammals. It was okay, though there were several moms who didn't get the concept of parent participation and were almost more of a distraction than their unruly children. We have another zoo class next month and if it's the same situation, I don't think we'll sign up for any more.
Today we had our regular Mommy and Me class. Unfortunately, Tabitha took quite a tumble off a rocking horse. She was climbing down and it flipped over on top of her and knocked her in the face. Her nose had a slight discoloration and she wouldn't keep regular ice on her nose and forehead so we ended up going home. She did keep ice on it at home, thankfully. Her nose didn't swell and her forehead never developed a bump, but she does have a red area under her left eye. She was covered in grass, including inside her shirt and all in her hair, so she took a lunchtime bath and got scrubbed clean and we got all the grass out of her hair. I also gave her some children's Tylenol since it's an anti-imflammatory.
We went out to dinner with my mil and then we went shopping so she could get Tabitha some Care Bears. Tabitha has now added Baby Tugs and Bedtime Bear to her growing collection.
So now you know why I haven't updated in a few days. I haven't even checked email this week! And tomorrow is another eventful day!

Tabitha and I partook of one of our rather long walks. 4 miles round trip. She walked most of the way there, but decided to just sit and ride for the walk home. I'd rather she walked there anyway since it's all uphill. She just loves walking on the hiking trails and finding sticks to carry. She has the thing about sticks. She finds one that she thinks is just perfect. Perfect for what, I couldn't say. Then she goes a few more feet and finds an even more perfect stick and essentially trades up to the better one. This goes on for the entire walk. She's also recently taken up a rock collection so she likes to look for rocks on our walks. Do you know how many kinds of rocks there are in suburbia, so cal? One, broken croncrete. But that doesn't stop her from looking.

We had a park date with some friends we haven't seen in a while. Life gets in the way sometime :) Anyway, the girls had a wonderful morning playing tag and such. They look so cute with each other and all the hugs that get passed around. Their mom and I were both wishing we had a camera.

We took Tabitha to the doctor last night. It wasn’t our regular pediatrician due to us getting in on such short notice. We kind of had to take whoever was available. But we really liked the guy and he took time to listen to what we had to say, which is always nice. He didn’t see any sign of a bacterial infection, which is good. He said her sinuses were a bit white, which tends to indicate possible allergies. However, he agrees that her symptoms and the way they act don’t seem like allergies. He offered us a prescription allergy medicine if we wanted to try it. What we decided to do is let this cold run it’s course and if she seems to get sick immediately after, as has been the case, then we’ll try allergy medicine and take it from there.
So today we went to Disneyland and California Adventure for a little while after our Mommy and Me class. It was very, very crowded, but we found a new pressed penny machine and a new pressed quarter machine so that was nice. After we got home, we kind of veg’d and Chris is putting Tabitha to bed right now. We’re watching both the Ducks and the Dodgers and maybe we’ll play our game for a bit.

Tabitha has yet another cold. This is her fourth since Feb. 23 so we're heading off to the dr. after Chris gets home. I just want to make sure it's not a bacterial infection. If she's just been unlucky with catching colds, then fine, but it's awfully unusual, especially since neither Chris nor I have been sick once in this time. She's been taking more classes lately and therefore being around more kids than usual, but it will set my mind at ease to have her tested.
We went to my in-laws again last night. They had hardwood floors put in last week and we moved all their furniture back into the living room for them. They invited us to dinner as well, it was a pleasant visit, but we got home later than I would have liked and Tabitha was a bit wired so she didn't get to sleep until almost 9:00pm. Today she and I are just hanging out, doing laundry and a run to the grocery store.

Pic of Tabitha and I at Descanso Gardens
I had a nice Mother's Day today. It started at 6:17am with my child yelling "Happy Mother's Day!" at the top of her lungs, but it's the thought that counts, right? I had Chris put her back to bed, but she came back half an hour later. Chris had to work, unfortunately so I went out with my Mom and sister. We went to Descanso Gardens. It was very beautiful and went had a nice time walking among all the flowers. The rose garden was especially full of blooming flowers. Chris was home by the time I returned and he had a few gifts for me. Very sweet. We'll be eating kind of late, I decided I wanted chips with salsa and guacamole. We'll also have quesadillas. All in all, a very nice 5th Mother's Day for me :)

I joined a project for today called "The May Day Project". I'll be taking at least one photo an hour (and probably more) to show a day in the life of us :) You can find my photos at http://tarazandra.com/mayday. I'll be updating fairly often as we don't really have anything planned for today. I know, how exciting, huh? LOL Anyway, check it out if you'd like.

Nothing too exciting the last couple of days. Yesterday was our Mommy and Me class. The teacher did something a little special for Mother's Day. The craft was a flower corsage that was kind of fun. Tabitha also made my mom and mil Mother's Day cards. We had a special sit down snack for the moms with flowers and such and our teacher took a picture of each mom with their child and we'll get copies later. All in all it was very nice. Last night we had dinner with my in-laws and moved a lot of furniture for them because they had hardwood floors put into a couple rooms today. And Chris and I did a Wal-Mart run, real exciting stuff, huh? Today we headed to Disneyland since we hadn't been in a couple weeks. Boy was it crowded! We totally didn't expect it to be since it was kind of drizzly and they were only open 10-8. So we only stayed a few hours. We did storytime with Belle, rode the canoes and Winnie the Pooh, went to Tom Sawyer's Island and got a few pressed nickels and headed out. We were home for about an hour and decided to go to a new IKEA that opened here yesterday. It is HUGE! The play area was unbelievable! And the kids get to stay 90 minutes now instead of just 60 like at the old IKEA. Tabitha had a great time. Chris and I love wandering around there. Of course, it's next to impossible for us not to buy something there and sure enough, we did. We got an adorable green rag rug with black ants marching on it for Tabitha's room. It's fits perfect with her garden theme. We also got some tiny clothespins with flowers on them to hang up her art work in her room. They had people that are actually from Sweden giving out samples of some food in the bistro and we ended up getting some yummy cookies and an almond torte. We saw a couple more things we'd like to get for Tabitha's room and also our second bathroom in the near future.
Now we've got Tabitha off to bed and Chris and I are going to settle down to our game. Night!

Oh the show was fantastic! I'm so proud of my baby, she did fabulous. You could really tell how hard she worked as she did very, very well. The teacher was standing off to the side doing the routine, but Tabitha really did know it pretty well. The kids next to Tabs were actually watching and following her for some of it. Of course, I'm biased, but she was the best one :)
Also, this evening, we watched my episode of Ultimate Collectors and I'm happy to say I did not look like an idiot. I looked very, very heavy, unfortunately. I happen to be wearing the shirt I wore for the show today (just a coincidence) and I know that I can really see my weight loss as compared to the tv show which was taped back in January. I don't think they told the story of the cows very well, but whatever. That was 4 of my 15 minutes of fame.
But wait! There's more!
It's raining today, and it's sunny today. We saw not one but 2 full arc rainbows (one on top of the other) outside. Absolutely beautiful! We took Tabitha out of her bath to stand in the rain to see the rainbows. Click for rainbow pic Click for other rainbow pic. She suggested we go to Baskin Robbins and get rainbow sherbet to celebrate so that's where we're headed as soon as she's done with her bath.

What an incredible day!! We went up in the mountains to Angeles National Forest and hiked for a while. We walked on an old road that is now closed and then came to this beautiful area with a waterfall and small river/ large stream. We hiked down the rocky side of the mountain and then picked our way through the rocks and plants up the river and come to the bottom of San Antonio Falls. It was amazing! We took an easier path back to the road and then headed up the trail higher up the mountain until we all got tired and thirsty and decided to turn back. Tabitha was a wonderful, pleasant surprise! Its like she was born to do this. As we scrambled up the rocks toward the base of the waterfall, she would break off ahead and say "Follow Me!" If I lagged behind or looked carefully at a gap to cross she would yell to me, "You can do it Mommy!" The joy on her face and in her voice was obvious and extremely contagious. Of course the beautiful weather and amazing views didn't hurt either. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to do it again.

Tabitha is into being sneaky right now. It's actually kind of funny. There was the wondering the house episode I spoke about before. Last night she did something a little similar. She apparently wasn't tired when we put her to bed. Chris and I were playing our game in the living room and we were pretty sure we heard her door open. She didn't come into the living room though so we assumed she just went to the restroom and then back to bed. After a while it seemed that we were hearing her door open again and again. So I got up to turn on our child monitor and she wasn't in her bed (no big surprise). I went into the hallway to see if she was just sitting there and found a note on the floor. It said "I love you Mom and Dad" lol She had left it in the middle of the hallway and my guess is that she kept opening the door to check if we had found the note yet. She left another note about 15 minutes later that read "Dad your(sic) the best." She is just too sweet and funny. Then she calls me a few minutes later and I went in to see what she needed. A cat was in her room, so I asked her how Mary got in. She tells me she doesn't know. So, I asked again how a cat got in her room with the door closed and if she opened the door. She tells me that she doesn't want to tell me because she's afraid I'll be mad. So I said the classic line of how I will be mad if she doesn't tell me the truth and she finally admitted to opening the door "a little." I just thanked her for telling me and told her to stay in bed and she says to me "I was trying to sneak so you wouldn't know I was there!" I have a feeling this is going to repeat itself at bedtime for a few days.
