Oh. My. God! The whole event was just incredibly fantastic!! So we get there and check in to get our "credentials" that had to be worn on a lanyard around our neck. We enter Disneyland via the main gate and as soon as we stepped onto Main Street, we were on the red carpet. Really. The actual red carpet for the stars. We walked the entire length of it with fans and press lining both sides of the street. There were a couple of really cool archways to walk under as well. Finally we were in Frontierland. We decided to eat first so we wouldn't be rushed later. The buffet was pretty cool. There were a couple different pasta salads, breads, potatoes and asparagus. The real treat was the dessert table! There were chocolate treasure chests filled with pudding with an oreo cookie topping and gold pieces of chocolate; fruit boats with sails made out of a dough (probably phyllo); long stem strawberries that were HUGE! The centerpieces on the table were pretty fun and we were contemplating taking some of it. We didn't, but later, we saw someone with everything off the table wrapped up in the velvet cloth. Next was on to the activites. They were cheesy, but the whole thing was so fun that we didn't really notice. We went digging for buried treasure, I took a necklace and a jewel home to Tabs, we got pirate skull caps decorated, there were skull and cross bones tattoo booths, but I just grabbed one to take home to Tabitha, and also there were picture booths. We went on some rides and then went to sit down for the movie. There was a 40x90 foot screen set up on the Rivers of America in New Orleans in front of Tom Sawyer's Island. Our seats were off to the side, being lowly ticket winners, but we had no problem seeing the film. First, though, there was a band doing horrible covers, then Johhny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Jerry Bruckheimer, Keira Knightley, and Jack Davenport, were introduced and were taken across the river on one of the rafts before going up to their seats. The movie started immediately (with complimentary drinks, popcorn and blankets, of course) and was amazing. I just love, love, loved it! It was totally hilarious, which I didn't expect and just all around a fun movie to watch. I don't recommend it for very young children that are disturbed easily because rather disturbing scenes involving skeletons are prevalent throughout the movie. There is no language to be concerned with and the violence isn't gory, though. The movie is loosely based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland (and I assume it's a similar ride at the other parks) and therefore had a few "in-jokes" that are freakin' hilarious if you are at all familiar with the ride itself. Some parts really seemed familiar to me because they looked just like a couple walkways that we used to use when I worked Pirates back in the day. After the movie there was a fireworks show and then we went on a few more rides. On our way out we received hats and a Pirates of the Caribbean X-Box game.
So, it was amazing, incredible, unbelievable, fantastic, fabulous and any other really good word you can think of to insert here :) Not something we'll forget anytime soon, I can tell you that.
Oh, and while we were certainly weren't rubbing elbows with stars, here is a list of "famous" people that we saw last night. It's not long because we didn't go out of our way to star watch. This is just who we happened to see.
The stars of the film as I mentioned earlier, though only from afar
Don Johnson (also from afar)
Ozzie Smith (wearing Pirates team gear, I might add)
Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Blink 182 (Travis was smoking weed off to the side)
Daryl Hannah (dressed as a pirate)
Wes Scatlin with Rachel Hunter
And I think that's it. We got home about 1:30 and poor Chris had to be at work at 5:00. Plus we're going out tonight, so he's hoping to get his stuff done and come home to nap.
The whole thing was just too cool :)

We are so busy right now. We'll go months without anything of interest to do and then "Bam!" suddenly we have more places to go than days to do it. Wednesday we had class, lunch with my mil, then an aquarium class. Last night we went to see The Friendly Indians play at a farmer's market. It's always nice when they play there because we can take Tabitha since it's outside and there's tons of kids for her to run around with. The only problem last night was this one evil child. He kept grabbing Tabitha forcibly and knocked her down a couple times and started to hit. We had to actually say to him "Go away!" to get him to leave Tabitha alone. Of course, then he just focused on other kids. His mom wasn't paying any attention because she was one of the vendors. She did talk to him once after the lead singer said over the microphone "Be careful of the kid in the blue hat and all kids, make sure you don't knock down sweet Tabitha" LOL. So tonight we have Chris's hockey game at 7:30. Tomorrow he has another hockey game while Tabitha and I are at a birthday party and then we have to both race home and change to get to Disneyland on time for the pre-party. Sunday, we're going to see the Indians again. All of this while Chris is working every morning at 5:00am. He'll be off next Tuesday and he'll probably just collapse for the whole day.

Oh my goodness!! We just won tickets to the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean on Saturday!! It's going to be held at Disneyland and then we'll get to attend the after-party which is basically a private party at Disney. We are so excited!! We're going to head out to pick up our tickets from the radio station in just a few minutes. The movie is semi-based on the attraction "Pirates of the Caribbean" at Disneyland and was one of my favorites to work. When I interviewed for the job waaaaay back in 1992, I was asked where I'd like to work and my answer was Pirates. I was also a trainer on that attraction and it holds a special place in my heart. I've been away from my job (4 years in August!) long enough to be able to remember the good things and not just the bad aspects of my job. I'm totally stoked in this movie :)
The radio station where we have to go, KROQ, is near Beverly Hills where there's a restaurant that I've always loved called Ed Debevic's. We've been saying we need to take Tabs there because she's probably love it. It's closed for good, now. It makes me sad because I have so many wonderful memories tied to this place. I used to go there on dates or with friends and always had a great time and now it's gone. The only one left is in Chicago and we really have no plans to go there anytime soon. So that's a downer, but not enough to bring me completely down.

Since Chris is still training at his new company, he's had a pretty funky schedule. He went in for 2 hours very early Saturday morning and was home before Tabs or I woke up. My very sweet husband let me sleep in to 9:00am after Tabitha got up! It felt good, although I actually hate sleeping in, but I've been so tired lately that I needed it. After I was finally up and dressed, we headed out to the Orange County swapmeet. The USC blood mobile was there so Chris donate blood while Tabitha and I waited. It's a wonderful thing to do and something I should do, but I have issues I need to get over first. We had a good time at the swapmeet. Chris and I both got sunglasses and I finally got a jacket that is just what I've been looking for the last few months. It's black corduroy with a hood and is lined with stuffed animal type fur. It's casual, comfortable and warm, I'm very pleased.
We used a gift certificate that I got for my birthday and had a late lunch at Macaroni Grill. We had a fabulous waitress and seems we finally broke our string of bad luck in restaurants that we've been having lately. Yesterday, we all slept late, late for us anyway, and then went out to breakfast. We were reminded why we don't do things on weekends, all the restaurants were crowded! We ended up at Coco's where we all had really good food. Afterwards, we headed to Disneyland for a few hours. We finally managed to get Tabitha's picture with Honest John from Pinocchio. Now I can do the scrapbook layout of all the Pinocchio characters. Then, while we were walking through Adventureland, we saw Pocahontas! She's a character we've never seen before and that Tabitha has wished she could visit. So that was a pleasant surprise.
And that was our weekend. Chris is at work right now, so he'll be home relatively early. We'll probably both need to nap as our child came crying to sleep with us at 3:53 and we don't all really fit well in our queen bed. Chris had to get up at 4:20 anyway, but I didn't and am completely exhausted. Just as I dozed off, I heard the garage open as Chris left. Then I'd just about be asleep and the dog would start barking her head off. I think she was cheesed to be outside in the dark. Then I'd hear the cats, then Tabitha would flail and hit me with her stuffed bunny. I finally just got up and here I am. I can't even get dressed or get a start on the laundry because it might wake my child and I would never risk that.

I'm not a Dr. Seuss fan in general. I don't like silliness and all his stories are silly. But the lyrical magic of The Cat in the Hat is just a joy to read aloud. I haven't read it in a very long time, not since my sister was the age my daughter is now. Tabitha read it earlier today, but I read it to her tonight because it is really a story that must be said out loud and not just in one's head. We concluded that neither of us would tell our mothers all that transpired while she was out for the day. It then prompted Tabitha to make up her own poems for my amusement. They didn't make sense, but they rhymed well enough, lol.

My child is staging a protest against the weather. We wake up to clouds just about every morning. It's called "June gloom" around SoCal. This morning Tabitha doesn't like clouds unless it's raining, in which case she's all for them. So this morning she told me she was just going to sit and watch TV and wasn't going to stop until the sun came out. She eventually got bored of the TV and is now playing, but won't get dressed until the sun shines. I really, really, hope it comes out at some point. Though I seriously doubt we'll have issues about getting her dressed to go places. Chris was up very early for work this morning, so as soon as he gets home, we'll leave so he can nap for a bit. We have a Dodger game tonight so he can't go to bed early. But I'm with my kid. I'm so tired of waking up to clouds. Plus, it's kind of cold in the mornings so it's hard to dress appropriately because it's been rather hot in the afternoons. One good thing for today is I got my order from Hot Topic today. I ordered an Oscar the Grouch shirt for me and 4 Care Bear cousins for Tabs. Now she only needs one more Care Bear to complete her collection. Of course, it's not that easy considering the one she needs has been discontinued so I have to resort to outrageous prices on ebay. Ah, the things I do for my kid :)

Too much fun! Tabs and I took Chris to work this morning, I just love that it's only a 10 minute drive! Woo-Hoo! So we don't even have to get up early to take him. We did a couple of non-fun stuff like AAA, gas and the credit union, but then we hit 2 malls, 2 Toys R Us's, 2 K Marts, lunch and Tower Records. We are worn out! We got things we needed and things we wanted and ended up at Toys R Us for their summer kids' program which started today. All we did was make a tissue paper flower today. Some days will be more involved than others. We probably won't go to tomorrow's activity, but we will go Thursday which is about telling time. I'm not even going to cook dinner now, I'm just picking up Taco Bell, so Chris's new job is so far costing us money, lol. But it was fun to go lots of places and not worry about the shuttle or busses. Not something we'll do all the time, but I'm glad we did it today :)

Today is Chris's first day on the new job. He called me during his lunch break and said things are going well and he likes everything and everyone so far. There are a couple differences that affect me, his 401K doesn't start until he's been on the job a year and his direct deposit can only go into one account not two like we currently have it set up. So, my budgeting is going to be different and I have to figure out how I'm going to set up my new budget. These are minor things and not problems, just new things to get used to. Chris will have a funky schedule pretty much until August when we're back from vacation. So it will take us a while before we hit the new normal of our lives. I'm just glad that's he's somewhere where he's happy :)

I think Chris had a nice Father's Day. Tabitha woke him up this morning and gave him her card and gift. Her gift to him was soap on a rope, lol. I looked for it for a very long time and a friend of mine found it for me. I could not resist it. We went to brunch with my in-laws, which was long and annoying so I won't go into details. When we got home, Chris relaxed while playing his new PS2 game, High Heat Baseball 2004 which is his gift from me. I fixed several of his favorites for dinner, veggie "meat"loaf with tomato gravy sauce, creamed corn, pasta salad, and chips with guacomole. Kind of a hodge-podge, but it's everything he loves. I gave him his card from me at dinner. It's a cute little card and I wrote him a nice love letter inside. Right now he's reading with Tabitha and pretty soon we're all going to go out to the Baskin Robbins' drive-thru. I took some pics of Tabitha with her new haircut and also a couple of Chris and Tabitha together. Each image can be clicked on to see the larger pic.

We are so incredibly shopped out. We spent hours at Target and the mall. Chris got clothes, I got clothes, Tabitha got a Care Bear cousin and one dress. We're tired! We're supposed to go to the swap meet tomorrow, but I'm starting to reconsider. We need to do mundane things like hair cuts and an oil change and Tabitha and I need to go Father's Day shopping for Chris. I've also been dying to go to Whole Foods, we haven't been in quite a while.
Chris and I decided today that we're going to go back on WW points. Of course, I've spent the last month buying new clothes, and now I plan to lose more weight, lol. It's worth it though. No hockey game tonight, so we're just watching the Dodgers and relaxing.

We had a pretty good day at Disney yesterday. We saw a few shows we haven't seen in awhile, Tabitha got some pressed pennies, we did some shopping and had lunch/dinner. While we were waiting for the parade, Tabitha made friends with the 8 year old sitting next to her. I guess she really bonded because the child begged me to let her new friend be in our family, lol. I think she was ready to cry when I said no. I may have some explaining to do in that area. Today I know we're having lunch with my mil and we'll probably do some more shopping because I received a belated birthday gift of 2 gift certificates. Plus I'm still trying to find a pair of jeans that I like. I am having the worst luck in that dept right now. I had no idea that losing a bit of weight would make things harder on me :) We're also going to head out and pick up Chris's last check from the good guys. We have a few home improvement projects that we're going to use it for. Nothing major, just a few little things. The rest is earmarked for our vacation. Including today, I have Chris for 3 more days!!

Well, we're graduated, lol. Not that it means anything, we'll be in the exact same class next semester. Summer session starts next week, we'll be going to the first few weeks but we won't be able to go to all of the classes since we're leaving for Maine in 5 weeks. Right now we're just kind of kicking back, too full from class to eat lunch. We're all feeling a bit too lazy to go anywhere so this is probably it for the rest of the day. We'll probably head to Disney for the day tomorrow. We haven't been in like 3 weeks, that's a record for us!
As a side note, we bought one of the McDonald's McVeggie burgers yesterday. We only bought one and shared it between us all. Tabitha and Chris loved it, I thought it was a bit sausage tasting, but in general pretty good. I was wary because a friend of mine tried it and absolutely hated it. She also told me they changed the flavoring on their fries so that they are vegetarian, but I still want to check on that before I order them.

Chris is off the next 6 days! We'll probably be out and about so updates may be sporadic. On the other hand, I've really been into updating lately, so we'll see. Today we're off to go shopping. Talk to you later.

It is not my day with my child. Earlier she commented that my singing was bothering her. At dinner tonight she offered me some of her ice cream to which I replied, no thank you. Her response? "So you won't get fat again?" What the?! First off, I'm insulted, as I've never considered myself fat, second of all, where the heck did she hear something like that? And of course, my darling husband was trying to hide his laughter. I helped him hold it back by kicking him.

Tabs and I went to the mall today. I'm starting to get tired of the shuttles and stuff. Our entire trip was 4 hours from the time we left the house until we got home. We were only at the mall for 45 minutes and if we had driven straight there in the car, it's about a 15 minute drive. So an hour and 15 minute trip turns into 4 hours by shuttle. At least it only costs a quarter. With Chris's new job, it'll be much easier to get the car since he'll only be 5 minutes away. If we want to take him to work it won't be a huge waste of gas like it is now. Also, he'll be working all late shifts so we can easily do errands in the morning before he leaves. Not that today was an errand, we went just for the heck of it. I got Tabitha a Stanley computer game for 50% off. Actually, we had gone to Toys 'R Us last night to buy her one that was supposed to be on sale. After my sale is rung up before I realized how much it came to and the game was not on sale. The guy and I looked at the ad together and I pretty much just misread it. I bought it anyway since I had already paid for it, but didn't open it. Now I'm really glad I didn't since we got one today for half the price. I'll just return the other one we bought. We had lunch at our standard Korean noodle house and Tabitha tells me it taste like chicken and shrimp. I asked how she would know since she's never had chicken or shrimp. She told me it just does and you know what? She was right. Neither of us ate very much. Right now she's playing her new game and probably thinks her mom has gone crazy. I'm listening to Chris's MP3 player with headphones and I'll admit I'm singing along. Probably loudly too since the music is turned up very loud. It's not easy being my kid :)

Chris's team won their hockey game Friday!! One of the reasons they switched locations was because they constantly felt outclassed where they were playing before. None of the other teams seemed to be at a beginner level. So they have high hopes for the new place and they actually won! They were well matched as the final score was 4-3. Chris got run into at one point though and his back is still feeling it today. He's not in a constant pain, he just feels twinges now and then.
Today was his last real day of work. He's going in tomorrow, but he's being taken out to lunch by a couple of his bosses and Tuesday he's going in for like 2 hours to train somebody. But for the regular stuff that he does everyday, today was the last day. So he felt like celebrating when he got home. He wanted to go to Fridays for dinner, which is normally fine, but we had a pretty bad waiter. He knew he made some mistakes and he made up for it, but I wasn't too happy for most of the meal. We seem to be having a lot of bad experiences going out lately. I think we just go out too much. When we got home, I decided to lay down for awhile because I've just been dragging and felt very tired all day. Chris decided to join me and we both feel asleep. I slept for about an hour and he's still sleeping going on 2 hours now. I'm not sure if I should wake him or not. It's almost 8:00pm, but he only slept for 3 hours last night so he may very well be down for the night. I'm going to feel bad if he wakes around 11pm and can't go back to sleep.
Right now I'm being entertained by Tabitha who has just discovered the wonders of the kazoo.

All is well in tarazandra land. We're heading out in a little while to go see Chris's hockey game. The season starts tonight. We'll be in a new rink that's very close to home. I hope the game goes well.
Last night we went to a Dodger's game. Lots of fun, especially since they won and we finally got to see Eric Gagne pitch.
I'm not much in the mood to write, talk to you later.

Yesterday I found out that I didn't renew my domain name which means all my sites were down not to mention my email didn't work. I renewed it and they told me 24-72 hours. Thankfully, it was 24 hours and that's all taken care of. Now a whole new problem has arisen. My Explorer browswer isn't working. I'm in Netscape right now and I'm having issues. I'm going to try to re-download IE, but I'm on dial-up so it's going to take awhile. I'll write what we've been up to when I get this all figured out.

What a long day. First of all, Chris and I went to see Pearl Jam last night. They were fabulous, as usual. It was his 6th time and my 5th time seeing them. They played “Black” this time which is my all time favorite of their song. Other favorites of mine that they played were “Rearviewmirror”, “Thumbing My Way” and “YellowLedbetter.” Chris was stoked because they covered “Baba O’ Reilly.” Our seats were okay, they’re never good enough, of course. Oh, and we ate a deep fried Oreo. As in the cookie. They dunked the Oreo in pancake batter then deep fried it and topped it with powdered sugar. It was actually pretty good. We didn’t get home until 2AM and Miss Tabitha decided I needed to be awake at 7:06AM. Yikes! Two glasses of Diet Coke and I was ready for the day. She and I hopped a couple busses down to LA and went to the Natural History Museum. Well, it wasn’t really that simple. It takes 1 hour 20 minutes to get to downtown, then we had to take the LA shuttle bus to the museum. By the time we got there, I was ready to go home, lol. We had a good time though. The butterfly pavilion is open again so we spent some time in there. Tabitha enjoyed the museum. We went through the mammal, fossil and dinosaur halls and then to the Discovery Center which is a hands on area for kids plus an insect zoo. And then started the long ride home. Pizza was definitely in order for this evening. We quickly stopped at Target for some pictures and now Chris is going to help me do some scrapping for a project for Mommy and Me class tomorrow. Yes, I left it to the last possible minute considering it's already 9:30. Hopefully I work well under pressure.

I had a pretty nice birthday yesterday. Chris arrange baby-sitting and took me shopping at Ontario Mills. I got a pair of shorts that I just love from The Gap outlet, plus I got Tabitha a pair of shorts from there and pajamas and 2 shirts from The Children's Place outlet. We had lunch at Bruegger's Bagels, which I just love! I haven't had a good bagel sandwhich in a while. Then we went to see "Down with Love" at the theatre. It was very cute and we enjoyed it quite a bit. After we picked up Tabitha, we went to the grocery store and got some good cheeses, a garlic mustard and some peppercinis and came home and Chris and Tabitha made my dinner. We had the sandwiches on a cut loaf of French bread. Very yummy! On hot days I don't like eating hot food, so that's why I wanted sandwiches. Tonight we go out to dinner with my in-laws, tomorrow Chris and I go to see Pearl Jam which is my birthday gift from my in-laws. I think I'll be seeing my mom Tuesday, I heard from my dad yesterday, had a card and gift from my grandparents, plus various friends and my sister sent me e-cards. All in all, a very good day :)
